Soundhouse: The Listening Body Booklet
Listening to creative radio and podcasts is often considered a secondary activity – something we might do in motion, submerged in a hot bath or lying in bed on the edge of dreams.
Starting with the question: 'what might a cinema for collective listening be like?' Soundhouse: The Listening Body explores the deeply physical relationship we have with sound through a collection of essays from audio-makers and academics. Exploring ideas of listening and the body, it also includes research conducted into imagined collective listening spaces and a series of postcards inspired by that research.
It accompanies an installation and series of events in the Barbican's public spaces designed to provoke the imagination and stimulate the senses in a radically reimagined collective listening space - view more here. 6 Sep–4 Oct 2018
