Feliciano Centurión (b. 1962, San Ignacio, Paraguay) was a visual artist whose textile practice included embroidery, knitting and crochet on domestic and mass-made materials, including blankets and clothing.
In 1973 his family were exiled to Argentina as a result of the dictatorship of Alfredo Stroessner. In 1980 he moved to Buenos Aires, where he formed part of an influential group of artists associated with the Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas. His work exemplifies that period of artistic production in Argentina, using irony and kitsch to create an exuberant aesthetic.
This product is part of a limited collection of products featuring Centurion’s iconic work that has been specially produced for the Unravel art exhibition and are exclusive to the Barbican. Find out more about the exhibition here.
